Upcoming panel on Geek Parenting – LCA 2009

I’ve just posted the details of an event we’re planning for Linux.conf.au (LCA) 2009 which I’m pretty excited about – a community panel on Geek Parenting. We are looking for some experienced geek parents as well as an expert or two (educator, counsellor or other professional who is experienced in matters parental) who would like to share some ideas, tips and discussion on the challenges that being a parent can present. Read the full details over at my other blog, The Open Source Report. 🙂

    Hi Sarah,

Have a look at http://www.humans.org.nz which is for parents of those with children on the autistic spectrum. David Cohen in Wellington is great Dad and his book might be of interest to readers.

I’m very close to some of these issues but don’t know a safe way to discuss them online. Besides all of the other issues privacy and safety is a real concern for most parents in these types of situations. There are also some delicate politics with schools to factor into the debate.

    Hi Jason,
Thanks! I personally hate *using* contact forms, but I guess I should make one available as an option.
Thanks for the info, and I appreciate your point about privacy. You’re welcome to email me (sarah @ this domain) if you like.

    Cheers!
