Byte into IT

The podcast of my first RRR show is up. I didn’t get much of a word in edgewise until my segment near the end. I talked about OLPC, digital archiving at the National Library, and Geek Girl Dinners Melbourne. I’m on again on Wednesday 9th July.

    Core Promise ?

According to the The Australian 30th June 2008

Rescind that promise this week ?

Andrew Fraser in Mackay – June 30, 2008

PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd has dismissed as argy-bargy a threat by the NSW Government to not allow computers to be installed in every school because of funding pressures. Mr Rudd said the commonwealth and the states had agreed through the Council of Australian Governments to implement the ALP’s election promise of a computer for every child in Australia. The NSW Government is demanding a top up of $245 million over four years to fund equipment associated with the installation of computers. “With the implementation of any program involving states and territories there’s always something called argy-bargy,” Mr Rudd said while speaking at St Francis Xavier school in Mackay. “This is normal argy-bargy associated with the states and territories and getting things done.”
